Research focus
The Laboratory for Gut-Immune-Brain Axis Research focuses on how the peripheral immune system shapes brain immune conditions in health and disease, with emphasis on the contribution of tissue-resident macrophages and immune cell trafficking in neurodegenerative disorders. Using various transgenic models in combination with immunophenotyping tools and -omic techniques, our overarching aim is to unravel the mechanisms through which the gut-immuno-brain axis can contribute to neuropathology.
