Having joined VIB-UA CMN in late 2016, I am a PhD student whose main interests are identification of novel variants associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and functional characterization of identified AD-associated variants. To this end; I am involved in projects such as targeted resequencing of complex AD risk loci, whole exome sequencing of subjects with AD-related deep phenotyping data (the European Medical Information Framework for Alzheimer’s Disease Multimodal Biomarker Discovery study), and integration of genetic & transcriptional landscape of AD-associated loci using novel AD GWAS (the European Alzheimer & Dementia Biobank consortium project) and expression & splicing QTLs derived from AD RNA sequencing data. For the latter, I also aim to study complex splicing events in AD-associated loci with single-molecule long-read nanopore sequencing technology.
